According to Matt Porter, managing director at Kedington, work is due to start on site this month and will take several months to complete.
‘‘Fortis Bank wanted a state- of-the-art, high-speed, future- proofed network in their new headquarters and signed us up to deliver the goods,’’ he said.
‘‘Over 50 international banks have taken space in the IFSC over the past 15 years and all these companies require state-of-the-art network connectivity.’’
Porter said today’s networks must be capable of handling voice, video, animation and intelligent graphics that operate at very high speeds. Fortis have engaged Kedington to install the fastest copper network available, the new category 6a/10 gigabyte network.
‘‘This network will handle incredibly fast data speeds and offers the highest degree of future-proofing, which is necessary since the cable platform will be in place for the next 20 years.’’
Kedington was founded in 1989 and purchased by Denis O’Brien’s Esat in 1999. In March 2003, Porter and Colm Lyons led a management buyout which brought the company back into private ownership.
They secured the entire Republic of Ireland operation and kept the original management team. They employ 120 people in their offices in Dublin,Cork and Limerick.
